Sitbag: Suitcases Recycled Into Seating

February 5, 2008 at 1:15 pm (amazing things, art, design/gadget lust, neat things)

Via Treehugger, take a look at these gorgeous stools and chairs made of old suitcases. They’re the work of a Turkish design collective called Maybe Design, which makes many other lovely things, including bowls made of records* and this beautiful bench. Wonderful stuff.

* Emily has one of these! I wonder if hers is from them or someone else.

Cool! Mine is a slightly different shape, so I’m guessing it’s from elsewhere. There are directions for making them oneself in that DIY book I brought home over break.

Oh yeah. That’s such a cool book.

A DIY book covering how to use old LPs? Fancy that! What’s the title? :)

The book is called Making Stuff and Doing Things, and covers so much more than just vinyl record bowls! It offers how-to suggestions that span from the useful–how to make your own toothpaste, for example–to the sort of silly, like– how to pee standing up (for girls and women). Makes for a fun look-through or two (or three or four).

Here’s a link with more info about it:
