I’ve come across each of the following in the past few hours and it’s all got my head in a whirl:

First, I read that Canada had named the U.S. a torturing country in a heads up to its diplomats so that they might be able to better protect their country’s citizens. (Via Fitness)

But after the U.S. put pressure on Canada to retract the sentiment, they quickly and cowardly did. (Also via Fitness)

Meanwhile, “Torture Couture” is sexed and styled up and celebrated on the catwalk. (Via Boing Boing)

Oh, this blasted place. Oh, my aching brain…

From what I read, the Canadian document was a training manual for diplomats that was meant to just be for training purposes, never to be seen by the public. They exposed it when releasing documents for their defense in a lawsuit.

So they knew we tortured people, but they never meant to tell anyone publicly.

You’re right, that’s an important piece. Ugh.
