Junk Cities

January 13, 2008 at 1:00 pm (amazing things, art)

I would love to make one of these.

From Dan Winckler’s Flickr stream.

It’s a beautiful sculpture made of cheap plastic, called The Mandala Of Perfect Happiness. And relatedly, here’s an amazing model city made of metal trash. Awesome, awesome.

What’s better than converting garbage into glittering sculpture? Not. Very. Much.

I think Emily and I should make one from glass bottles and horses’ bones.

    You should build your Mandala

Have you seen the lifesize Lego depictions of famous movie characters (Darth Vadar, C-3PO, the Harry Potter kids, etc.) at F.A.O. Shwartz in New York City? Truly amazing. I wonder what I could build using all the boxes of miscellaneous Legos in my parent’s basement?
