Hell Opens, Swallows Children, Homes
Part of Guatemala City fell into the underworld yesterday. No, really. The sinkhole is 330 feet deep. It swallowed and killed two teenage siblings, as well as a dozen homes. About a thousand people were evacuated.
The pit emitted foul odors, loud noises and tremors, shaking the surrounding ground. A rush of water could be heard from its depths, and authorities feared it could widen or others could open up.
Well, folks, that’s it. Welcome to the end of the world.
