The 80 Proof Challenge

February 4, 2007 at 12:50 pm (80 Proof, amazing things, art)

We are issuing a standing challenge to the internet at large. Your mission is simple: read everything on our required reading list or watch everything on our required viewing list. If you succeed, we’ll buy you an 80 Proof t-shirt from our store, and send it to you, along with admiration unending. If and when you complete the challenge, email us (8 0 p r o o f p r o j e c t s [at] g m a i l [dot] c o m). We’ll invite you to a chat to talk about the myriad works with us and, after what’s sure to be a fascinating conversation for everyone involved, we’ll get your shipping info and send you your garment of honor.

Isabel is nearly finished working her way through the viewing list. Anybody else up to the very lofty task?

Well, I’ve already seen a half dozen of the movies, so I might be able to do them (though some I haven’t seen look a little obscure). But I wouldn’t be able to do the TV shows (don’t get cable, don’t really watch TV).

    Would that still count?

Emily and I haven’t talked about it yet, but it definitely might count. The shows are all pretty easy to rent, though — way more mainstream than the movies, with the exception of Lain, which I could see being tricky to find.
